Best formula to weigh a horse in inches/centimeters?

By wprweight

Question:

Lost the weight tape and need to monitor rescue horses weight. I measured his heart girth today and got about 64″. I looked up ways to convert it into weight and saw I needed to measure the length of him as well. But, I found a few different formulas.. one says girthxgirthxlength/836.65 and another says girthxgirthxlength/330.

Answer:

The equation using kg and centimeters seems more universal:

body weight (kg) = [girth circumference squared (cm) x body length (cm)] / 11,877

You can use the one above, but instead convert centimeters to inches and kilograms to pounds using the following excerpt: «To convert inches to centimeters, multiply by 2.54; to convert kilograms to pounds multiply by 2.2″ (http://www.equisearch.com/horses_care/he…
